Ketevan Sepashvili – Pianista

The pianist Ketevan Sepashvili was awarded the Best Georgian Performer at the Second Tbilisi International Piano Competition in 2001 and attracted public attention beyond the borders of her home country already at an early age. She proved her extraordinary pianistic abilities, being successful in international competitions – gaining among others the price for the best Brahms interpretation at the Taneev Chamber Music Competition 2002 in Kaluga, Russia and the 4th price at the International Piano Competiton Vianna da Motta in Lisbon, Portugal – and receiving scholarships from Elisabeth Leonskaja and the Georgian President Eduard Shevardnaze. The European press praised Ketevan Sepashvili as the “new shining star” (Zürcher Oberländer, 2007) and admired her virtuosity and creative nuances (Süddeutsche Zeitung, 2016). As a soloist, she was guest of renown European piano festivals, such as the Festival Klavierissimo in Switzerland, the Liszt Festival Raiding in Austria and Rubinstein Piano Festival in Łódz, Poland. Her fist CD, with works by Rachmaninov and Liszt, was released by the Austrian label Gramola Records in 2012. Ketevan Sepashvili started her musical education at the Paliashvili Music school for highly talented children with Tamar Pchakadze and later studied at the Tbilisi State Conservatory in the class of Svetlana Korsantia. From 2005 until 2007 she completed her studies with Prof. Hans-Jürg Strub in Switzerland and received important impulses from prominent pedagogues such as Victor Derevianko, Emanuel Krasovsky, Sontraud Speidel, Pnina Salzman, Nikolai Petrov and Alexander Korsantia.
